Master Class Saturday – Playwriting @ Theatre Tulsa Office
May 2 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Playwriting: Finding Your Voice Through Exploration

The workshop will consist of working with the concept of “etudes” as developed by Michael Wright in his books Playwriting in Process and Sensory Writing for Stage and Screen.  Etude work is simply a fun, hands-on approach to developing character and plot through theatre games similar to those seen on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and work done by Chicago’s “Second City” and “Saturday Night Live.”

A  great playwriting workshop for those who usually don’t – and even those who do can learn a trick or two, as well!

Date: May 2, 2015
Time: 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: 412 N. Boston Ave.
Cost: $30

WrightMichael Wright is the Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Creative Writing at the University of Tulsa, where he teaches screenwriting, playwriting and writing for performance media such as animation and gaming.  He is the founder and moderator of the Fictional Characters writers collective and the Circle Cinema Screenwriting Workshop.  His plays, monologues and songs have been produced at the Tulsa PAC Summerstage, Heller Theatre and the Nightingale, as well as in venues around the U.S. and Europe.  His books include Sensory Writing for Stage and Screen (due out September 2015),  Playwriting Master Class, 2nd ed. and Playwriting in Process, 2nd ed.

TT2014_9to5_Posts_300x1409-TO-5: THE MUSICAL
Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton
Book by Patricia Resnick
May 8-17, 2015

A hysterical satire about the joys of making a living, set to playful tunes by Dolly Parton herself! Fed up with his domineering ways, three women turn the tables on their egomaniacal manager – creating more comical chaos than they bargained for. Charming fun every hard-working man and woman can relate to!
