Broadway Bound – Acting Styles
We’re offering an exclusive, special session of Broadway Bound for students planning for a future in college theatre or a conservatory. Broadway Bound leads dreamers and leaders in the exploration of the theatre business, the history of Broadway, college preparation, and the opportunity to create their own showcase.
During the spring 2018 semester, our teenagers will go through a challenging acting intensive focused on scene work and detailed character analysis. Each week students will explore the history and plays of the great eras of drama – Greek, English Renaissance, Restoration, Modern Theatre, and the 20th Century. Actors will learn the acting style of each time period multiple methods laid out by the grandfathers of the modern theatre – Konstatin Stanisvlasky and Standford Meisner.
Through exploration and performance, connect to plays of the past and present through this exclusive seminar focusing on the intricate and exciting history of the ancient art of theatre. The course culminates in a special, collaborative showcase of scenes featuring the best-ever playwrights of dramatic literature including Sophocles, William Shakespeare, Moliere, Henrik Ibsen, Tenessee Williams, and more!
This course will be taught by Cody McCoy and Laura Dossett Holton.
