Theatre Tulsa is funded through tickets sales and small grants. Each production costs us an average of $5-7,000 to produce. A musical costs closer to $10,000. We love what we do. We love being able to provide high quality theatre such as Urinetown and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. We also want to fulfill our mission of creating opportunities for the people of the Tulsa area to experience theatre arts in a hands on fashion. Over 75% of the cast in our first two shows this year were new to Theatre Tulsa. Several of the backstage crew were also new. We are making good things happen from our little space in the Brady District.
Everyone has been touched by recent economic struggles. We understood that ticket sales would be effected, so we held our prices for the year and offered Living Social or other discounts for each show. As good as the turnout has been, we have not been able break even on either show. And we needed to do better than break even in order to maintain our current office, costume and scene shops.
You can help in 2 ways!
First. . . We have three great shows remaining. You can still purchase advance ticket packages for any or all of the shows. Give the gift of tickets for Michael Wright's production of Waiting for Lefty, Jim Queen's show, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, and Billie Sue Thompson's interpretation of the classic, Arsenic and Old Lace to friends and family for the coming holidays. For $30 you get 3 tickets to use anyway you like - 1 for each show or 3 for 1 show. Our Flex Voucher lets you and your friends decide how to use the 3 tickets as you wish. Click here for the order form or call our office at (918) 587-8402
Second . . . Make a donation. Your donation of as little as $10 will help. And it's tax deductible! All you need to do is click the button below and make your donation through our secure PayPal account. We'll make sure you get what you need for your tax records. Of course, if you wish to make a major donation, even underwrite a show, contact us! You'll receive special recognition and/or advertising space in our programs and on our posters.
Theatre Tulsa is proud of its heritage. We are making preparations for our 90th Season, but we need to make it through the 89th first. We know we can count on the people of the Greater Tulsa Area to make sure that happens!
Thank you!
