The 2nd Annual Tulsa Awards for Theatre Excellence Presentation Ceremony will be held Sunday, June 13th, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., at Casia Hall Perorming Arts Center 2520 S. Yorktown Avenue in Tulsa, Ok. This year’s event will be open to the general public.

The annual award ceremony, known as TATE for short, publically recognizes and promotes the art of theatre in Tulsa and as promoters cite, "fosters a broad-based community- wide appreciation for outstanding live performance. " The award program offers a total prize package of $20,000 for the following categories: First, Second & Third Place for outstanding Play and Outstanding Youth Theatre Production.

The event required that participating theatre groups submit two shows within their season for TATE award consideration. Theatre Tulsa’s board of directors felt a drawing was needed to provide an equal opportunity for all our 2009-10 directors’ shows to be considered for TATE. The shows selected based on the outcome of the drawing were What the Butler Saw directed by Jim Queen and On Golden Pond directed by Don Miller. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling 918/ 596-7111 or at myticketoffice.com.

Last year Theatre Tulsa was awarded the First Place TATE award for Outstanding Performance for our 2009-10 production of Up the Down Staircase directed by Frank Gallagher. This was a collaborative effort involving the Tulsa Park & Recreation’s Clark Youth Theatre.
