1981 - TT wins the Oklahoma Governor's Art Award. TT also wins the National Festival of American Community Theaters and is one of 12 international companies invited to participate in the Festival Mondial de Amateur in Monaco.

1985 - Theatre Tulsa becomes the first community theater to produce the musical Brownstone.

1989 - An emergency campaign to raise $85,000 is completed successfully within three months. All performances are moved to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center and Theatre Tulsa becomes the resident company of that facility.
