The Crucible

by Arthur Miller

November13-15 & 19-21, 2009                             - Doenges Theatre

This 1953 Tony Award winner fo Best Play is based on the actual events which took place in Salem Massachusettes in 1692 which is commonly known as The Salem Witch Trials. Due to the mounting hysteria over an unexplainable illness, accusation of witchcraft seized this puritan colony. 150 people were presumed guilty and 19 would be hanged. At the time the play premiered, many felt The Crucible was Miller's attack on McCarthyism of 1950's. this play will be performed in conjunction with Clark Youth Theatre.
