For multiple reasons, the Hairspray auditions will now be held via video submission. With the walkout has caused ever-changing schedules for all of us and those at the Fly Loft. This Saturday has filled up with conflicts, and the rest of April is pretty busy. No worries. This change won’t affect placement at all.
So, we’ll make this pretty simple. Over the next two weeks (until April 20), please send us an audition video with same vocal requirements as posted on the original notice. Upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive and send the link to with the title HAIRSPRAY AUDITION – YOUR NAME.
The only thing we ask for the video is to remember to film in landscape (horizontal) and make sure you can be heard well. You don’t need to worry about professional cameras or lights; your phone is sufficient.
Also, you may sing with an accompanist (your vocal coach will undoubtedly be happy to help) or with empty tracks, just make sure it is in the right key.
State your full name, age, grade, and one interesting fact about yourself.
Introduce your songs by show, title, and composer.
Sing 32 bars of two contrasting traditional musical theater pieces that are not from Hairspray.
Also, we will not host a dance audition for placements, and your dance ability will not affect placement. We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated theatre students.
