Theatre Tulsa’s final “Broadway Series” production of its 95th season will be The Producers.
Based on Mel Brooks’ classic film, this hysterically funny musical adaptation follows two theatrical producers who create a scheme to make more money with a flop than a hit. The result is a Broadway musical production of “Springtime for Hitler,” which is so over-the-top in bad taste that audiences assume it’s a satirical comedy and turn it into a blockbuster hit.
The original Broadway production opened in 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. It ran for more than 2,500 performances and won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. It spawned a successful London production, national tours in the US and UK, many additional productions worldwide and a 2005 film version.
Theatre Tulsa’s cast features Mark Frie as Max Bialystock, Travis Guillory as Leo Bloom, Kaye Brownlee-France as Ulla, Sean Patrick Rooney as Franz Liebkind and Jeremy Stevens as Roger DeBris.
Other featured cast members are: Pete Brennan as Carmen Ghia, David Moreland as Lead Stormtrooper and Rebecca Ungerman as Shirley Markowitz.
The ensemble cast includes Tomas Aponte, Jacob Brockunier, Kolby Caldwell, Andrea Collins, Mason Combes, Troy Cope, Ryan Devlin, Kia Dorsey, Kristin Fisher, Faith Fizer, Fletcher Gross, Dustin Harmon, Taylor Herndon, Marissa Hess, Dallas Johnston, Nan Kemp, Todd Malicoate, Alton Markham, Lucia McFarland, Angie Mitchell, Emma Petherick, Lindsay Powell, Audie Pritchitt, Laura Reeder, Sam Robson, Toni Ross, Natalia Rossi, Veronica Smith, Scott Taylor, Kimberly Wall, Christine Williams and Cathy Woods.
