Casting Policies
Theatre Tulsa is a community theatre, but one that strives for professionalism in its productions, processes and performances. Because of our focus on quality, the following policies are used in casting our shows.
Pre-casting
TT rarely pre-casts its shows, preferring to hold open auditions for all roles. If a role is going to be pre-cast, it will be clearly indicated upfront on all relevant audition materials.
Open Auditions
TT holds open auditions for all roles more than 99% of the time. Those auditions are open to anyone in the community, and we encourage performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities to audition. Directors and their production teams are encouraged to cast with diversity in mind.
Recruiting
If the director and production team are not able to properly cast a show from the open audition pool, they are allowed to recruit actors who may be more aligned with their artistic vision.
